Teaching…Editing – ‘ARMS’

The Situation

Your students need to learn how to add, remove and substitute words and information in their writing.

The Solution

Once students have edited the writing of their work, it is time that they consider how they might add or remove information, move sentences around or substitute the types of words used in the text. Using the tool below in much the same way as CUPS, students can use the table to analyse how they might improve their writing.

Print it, laminate it and leave it on the students desk to use to self-evaluate. What you might like to do before this is show students an example of writing that they can analyse and use the table against before they write their own.
